SOL DE OTOÑO Clara Goldstein (Norma Aleandro) lleva años viviendo tranquilamente a su manera, mientras hace creer a su hermano, radicado en una distante ciudad de Norteamérica, que vive en pareja con un hombre de su propia "comunidad" judía. Al anunciar su hermano una próxima visita, Clara recurre a un anuncio en el periódico para conseguir esa pareja de su fantasía. Recibe una llamada de un tal Saúl Levín (Federico Luppi), quien la cita en una confitería céntrica de Buenos Aires. El encuentro es agradable, pero antes de separarse Clara descubre que "Saúl" se llama Raúl Ferraro, y de judío nada. Ante la inminente llegada de su hermano, Clara se da a la tarea de convertir a Raúl en Saúl, en todos los aspectos y costumbres, y así evitar las explicaciones de rigor por su extraño engaño. Estamos ante dos de los más grandes actores que haya dado la América hispanoparlante en los últimos tiempos, y agradecemos la oportunidad de compartir con ellos el bordado de los respectivos personajes, en todo su detalle y deleite. Mas que en el Sol de otoño, nos envolvemos en los cálidos rayos de humanidad que emanan Aleandro y Luppi mientras imponen como creíble una historia que, con intérpretes menos hechizantemente naturales, podría habernos resultado una absoluta cursilería. Brindemos por que en nuestro otoño, podamos rescatar el alma de sus momentos fríos bajo un sol tan consolador como el que nos ofrece Mignogna. Las brillantes actuaciones de Luppi y Aleandro no pasaron desapercibidas en su reciente lanzamiento internacional en San Sebastián. La crítica fue unánime sobre la excelencia de ambas interpretaciones, y ella recibió el premio a la mejor actuación femenina. |
SOL DE OTOÑO Clara Goldstein (Norma Aleandro) has been living in her own private way for years, while she makes her absent brother, who lives in a distant North American city, believe that she has a live-in companion of their Jewish faith. Upon hearing of her brother's plans to pay her a visit, Clara places an ad in the paper for that lover produced by her fantasy. A so-called Saul Levin (Federico Luppi) answers the ad and asks her to meet him in a Buenos Aires downtown cafe. They get along grandly, until Clara finds out that "Saul" is really Raúl Ferraro, and not a drop of Jewish blood in his veins. Faced with the imminent arrival of her brother, Clara sets out to transform Raúl into Saul, in all the subtle, and not so subtle, Jewish ways. We are watching two of the greatest actors produced by Spanish-speaking America in recent times, and are grateful for the chance to share with them the embroidery of their respective characters, in every joyous detail. More than in the Autumn Sun, we wrap ourselves in the warm rays of humanity emanating from Aleandro and Luppi as they impose on us as real a story that, interpreted by others less enchantingly natural, might have seemed total kitsch. A toast: may we find, in our own fall season, as comforting a sun as that offered by Mignogna for the chill in our souls. The brilliant acting by Luppi and Aleandro did not go unnoticed in the film's recent international launching in San Sebastian. The critics' praise for the excellence of their performances was uniform. She received the Best Actress Award.

Eduardo Mignogna Comenzó su trayectoria profesional como escritor. Obtuvo el premio cubano Casa de las Américas con su novela Cuatrocasas (1975). Estrenó su primera película en 1983: Evita, quien quiera oir que oiga. Luego de una intensa labor como director y guionista de varios trabajos para televisión, regresó al cine con Flop (1990). |
Eduardo Mignogna His professional career got underway as a writer. His novel Cuatrocasas (1975) earned him the Cuban Casa de las Américas Prize. His filmmaking debut was Evita, quien quiera oir que oiga (1983). Since then he worked extensively as director and screenwriter of various works for television. His return to film was Flop (1990). |
