PROFUNDO CARMESI Coral (Regina Orozco) es una regordeta y solitaria enfermera con dos niños pequeños e insatisfecha con su vida. Enamorada de Charles Boyer, sus ansias sexuales la llevan a contactar a través de las páginas de "corazones solitarios" a otra alma sola que busca compañía, Nicolás Estrella (Daniel Giménez Cacho). DEEP CRIMSON Coral (Regina Orozco) is a plump and lonely nurse with two small children and a great dissatisfaction with her life. In love with Charles Boyer, her sexual longing drives her to contact, through the "lonely hearts" pages of a journal, another solitary soul in search of company, Nicolás Estrella (Daniel Giménez Cacho). He turns out to be a cheap seducer with a hairpiece, who goes after lonely women to rob and kill them. When faced with the imposing presence of Coral, he decides to split like lightning, but the dice have been thrown. Coral has fallen hopelessly in love with Nicolás, and she leaves everything behind -- profession, children -- to follow him. And he cannot escape. Coral has figured out his game and to be with him, she is even willing to assist. And so begins the strange dependent relationship between these two killers, which builds up to genuine love. Arturo Ripstein Nacido en Ciudad México en 1943. Hijo de un conocido productor, estudió derecho, historia e historia del arte antes de dedicarse al cine en 1962. Comenzó como asistente de Buñuel. Su primer largometraje fue Tiempo de morir (65). Desde entonces se ha establecido como uno de los realizadores más innovadores y prolíficos, en y fuera de México. Su obra incluye El castillo de la pureza (72), El santo oficio (74), Foxtrot (75), El lugar sin límites (77), Rastro de muerte (81), El imperio de la fortuna (85), Mentiras piadosas (88), La mujer del puerto (91), La reina de la noche (94). |
Arturo Ripstein Born in Mexico City in 1943. The son of a well-known producer, he studied law, history and art history before plunging into a film career in 1962, as an assistant to Luis Buñuel. His first feature film was Time to die (65). Since then he has established a reputation as one of the most innovative and prolific filmmakers of today, in and out of Mexico.
